Eight centuries... That’s how long I have stood here. A guardian. A beacon. A voice in the wind. I have seen Bruges grow, flourish... suffer,burn and be reborn. I heard the merchants advertise their goods, the first bells ring, I saw princes come and go, troops march, I heard the city laugh, the city cry. Bruges breathed and evolved over time... and as it did so did It.
Today is the time to tell my story.

Bruges has a magical appeal. For the Bruges residents themselves and for millions of Flemish and foreign visitors.
However, the history of the city has never been told in such a lively andimmersive way. This summer, the July 11 Committee, together with Alfavision - known for the Historium museum in the Market Square of Bruges - and PRG, will change that. Before the Belfort is restored, we will let this iconic monument tell its story for 11 evenings and 22 performances. From Tuesday, July 1 to Friday, July 11, at 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM each evening.
Expect a unique light spectacle that explores the different facets of Bruges and Flemish history, as well as the role Bruges has played in Flanders, both economically and internationally.
Below you will find all the important information for a smooth visit to 'The Belfry as Storyteller' by the July 11 Committee.
Location: Market, 8000 Bruges.
Dates: From Tuesday, July 1 to Friday, July 11, 2025.
Times: 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM.
Duration: Each performance lasts 25 minutes.
Languages: Each performance can also be followed in English, French, and German (via your smartphone/BYOD). Prices: The event is FREE to attend.
Accessibility: We recommend that every visitor come by bike, on foot, or by public transport as much as possible given limitations to parking near the event.
